The McKinney Independent School District rates as one of the fastest-growing school districts in North Texas and continues to receive academic commendations for the performance of its students. The McKinney Independent School District has been rated a Recognized School District by the Texas Education Agency. A total of nine schools in the district were rated Exemplary and 10 schools were rated Recognized by the TEA, based on the 2006 TAKS test.
